This workshop will focus on the state of geoscience education in Canada at all levels in the formal education system and in the principal programs of geoscience skills development and outreach for Canadian communities. The workshop will feature a few inspirational keynote addresses, but will mainly be a forum for discussion of future priorities in Canadian geoscience education and outreach. It is anticipated that a menu of key issues will be identified so that the education and outreach community can focus on those priorities for the coming decade. All geoscience educators and outreach practitioners are encouraged to attend this summit.
A short field trip to the Giant Mine (FT-B2 - YELLOWKNIFE GEOHERITAGE, EMPHASIZING SUBMARINE VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS, UNIQUE SEDIMENTARY DEPOSITS, AND CONTINENTAL GLACIATION) and an evening social event will be integrated into the program. If you register for this workshop you are automatically registered for the field trip.
