District Geologist Activities (Hendrik Falck, Karen Gochnauer)
Mineral Exploration Monitoring
District Geologists track exploration work in the Northwest Territories through company press releases, inquiries, and visits to active exploration projects. Familiarity with the geology and mineral occurrences of the Northwest Territories make District Geologists a useful resource for companies considering mineral exploration, or actively exploring in the Territory. An annual summary of mining and exploration activities in the NWT is produced by the District Geologists in November for the Yellowknife Geoscience Forum; the overview is downloadable from Gateway. If you have any questions about mineral exploration in the Northwest Territories, please contact Hendrik Falck.
Research Activities
Using information gathered from property visits, tours, and our archives of public assessment reports, District Geologists carry out research and data compilation projects. The results of this work are disseminated through NTGO publications, and are available for free download through our NT GoMap, NT GoData, and Gateway online applications.
