<title>Final deliverables of the Peel Petroleum Project are now available for download</title>
<description>May 13, 2009 - Northwest Territories Geoscience Office (NTGO) Petroleum Group exhibited at the 2009 Inuvik Petroleum Show June 17-18, 2009. We also participated in the Frontiers + Innovation 2009 CSPG CSEG CWLS Joint Convention in Calgary May 4-8, 2009. NTGO and Yukon Geological Survey (YGS) displayed their Regional Geoscience Studies and Petroleum Potential, Peel Plateau and Plain booth during the Exhibition May 4-5. The final deliverables (10-chapter project volume and accompanying digital atlas) of the Peel Petroleum Project were available at this booth, along with a display of research posters and a demonstration of the digital atlas. In addition, several members of the research team were on hand to discuss their contributions to the project and to answer your questions. The team also presented a number of talks and posters during the convention.</description>

<title>Mapping will continue in the southern Wopmay Orogen as Phase II of the South Wopmay Bedrock Mapping Project</title>
<description>May 1, 2009 - This summer is a ramp up season during which reconnaissance field investigations were undertaken to focus mapping and integrated studies in critical areas in the upcoming years. Methods of ground-truthing the recently flown regional airborne geophysical survey were also explored. Jackson and one student assistant were in the field for part of July with colleagues from NTGO and GSC.</description>

<title>The Prime Minister Visits NTGO</title>
<description>August 9, 2007 - On August 9, 2007, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Environment Minister John Baird were given a tour of the NWT Geoscience Office. They were treated to a display of interesting rock samples from the NWT (including the oldest known rock in the world, Acasta Gneiss), a demonstration of some geological mapping techniques such as 3D visualization of air photographs and satellite images, as well as the use of computers in field mapping and generating interactive geological maps.</description>
