1. Airline travel

All Delegates

A 43 % discount off of First Air’s low published fare (B class*) will be provided to all delegates travelling within First Air’s system wide routes into Yellowknife return (fares vary within routing).

*B class indicates all restrictions are waved – B class rate (including taxes and penalties) is $1100 Edmonton – Yellowknife return (as of Sept. 2006) = delegate rate of $630.

Book yourself through First Air or have your travel agent book for you. The delegate authorization number is GCC06 (please note “0” is zero).

2. Road travel

Yellowknife has direct road access to southern Canada along the Mackenzie Highway. The nearest major centre is Edmonton, Alberta, which is 1600 road kilometres to the south. Serviced communities along the route include Whitecourt, Peace River, Grande Prairie, High Level, Enterprise, Hay River, Fort Providence, and Rae-Edzo.
Rental vehicles are available at the Edmonton International Airport.
Daily bus service is also available from Edmonton, Alberta.

In order to reach Yellowknife by road there is a required ferry crossing across the Mackenzie River. If you plan on driving, please check the status of the ferry on the Department of Transportation's website www.dot.gov.nt.ca/_live/pages/wpPages/roadConditions.aspx or toll-free at 1-800-661-0750.
