Yellowknife EXTECH-III (Project Leader: Hendrik Falck)
The Yellowknife EXTECH-III (EXploration science and TECHnology) project was a five year multi-disciplinary study that was centered on the Yellowknife gold deposits. The study was intiated in 1989. Project participants included the Geological Survey of Canada, the Northwest Territories Geoscience Office, Miramar Mining Inc., Aurora Geosciences Ltd., Thompson Geological Services, Kirkham Geosystems Ltd., Yellowknife prospectors Dave Nickerson and Dave Smith, the NWT Centre for Remote Sensing, and university researchers from Carleton University, Queen’s University, Simon Fraser University, University of New Brunswick, University of Saskatchewan, University of Toronto, Waterloo University, and Wayne State University. In addition, many individuals active in the Yellowknife area have provided information to the project, including D. Webb, R. Carrol, L.
