Permafrost Geotechnical Data

Compiled geotechnical reports can be accessed through our Geotechnical Reports Table. These reports represent work completed by the GNWT. To access reports, please email NTGS@gov.nt.ca with the Report Title and the associated Project Number of each report being requested.

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is one of Canada's largest generators of permafrost data, primarily due to its ambitious infrastructure development strategy in permafrost-affected regions. Managing this data can be challenging, but making it accessible supports planning, decision-making, environmental reporting, and the GNWT’s commitment to open access. To support this work, the Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS) is identifying and organizing geotechnical and engineering reports that include valuable permafrost data collected by Indigenous and federal governments, community organizations, and industry. Reliable access to this information is essential for monitoring permafrost changes, supporting resilient northern infrastructure, guiding environmental planning, and ensuring efficient resource use.
